Description

The 28th Annual International Spring Festival will celebrate multi-cultural diversity through the visual, culinary and performing arts of more than 30 countries and will also feature a Family Health and Wellness Fair. The ISF is one of the largest multicultural festivals in the mid-Atlantic region attracting thousands of people each year.

At 11:30am, a grand parade will kick off the festivities and at noon the main stage will feature appearances by U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, U.S. Congresswoman Madeline Dean, Montgomery County Commissioners Val Arkoosh, Ken Lawrence and Joe Gale; Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub, Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny, State Senators Bob Mensch and Maria Collett, State Representatives Steve Malagari, Todd Stephens, Marcy Toepel, Matt Bradford, Joe Webster and Liz Hanbidge, Recorder of Deeds Jeanne Sorg and other elected local and state officials; members of Law Enforcement, Community, Business, and Educational leaders, who all come together to celebrate the rich culture of the region.

There will be dynamic and exciting multi-cultural entertainment on 7 different stages throughout the day. Some of the highlights include Voloshky Ukrainian Dancers, Guang Hua Chinese School, Fitzpatrick School of Irish Dance, International Ballet, Red Hill Jazz Band, Latin Jazz Trio, West Philadelphia Orchestra playing Balkanese Music, Superheroes Unite, ArCoNet Youth and Chamber Orchestra, Phyllis Chapell (International singer fluent in 11 different languages), and the Harmony Theater performing an act from the play 101 Dalmatians. North Penn School District will also be holding a Black History Oratorical Contest and the Planetarium will be showing Constellations of the North Sky.

The 2019 Family Health and Wellness Fair at the International Spring Festival, presented by Abington Jefferson Health, the Montgomery County Health Alliance and the North Penn YMCA, will feature free interactive health exhibits including the “Strollin Colon”, resource information and health screenings from a variety of providers. Rapping About Prevention, Inc. will engage families in energizing and fun exercise. The Volunteer Medical Services Corps. of Lansdale will provide Hands Only CPR education and demonstrate emergency equipment. Attendees should complete a “Ticket to Health” (available at the health fair) to be eligible for door prizes, which will be drawn throughout the day.

Veterans who bring DD214 can also receive free photo ID cards that can be used for discounts throughout the county, that will be issued by the staff of Jeanne Sorg, Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds. There are many fun and educational activities for children, including trying on culture specific attire and costumes and playing with musical instruments from various countries. The Passport Program is an activity in which kids learn facts about different countries and upon completion of the program, they have a chance to create art as well as win prizes.
