HVAC Service Technician

Job description:

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Service Technician to join our team, providing expert maintenance and repair services for a variety of commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong HVAC/mechanical knowledge, experience with various heating and cooling systems, and the ability to interpret schematics and HVAC design plans. Knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems is a plus. This role involves field service work across different commercial and industrial settings, ensuring optimal operation of air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems, and other mechanical equipment. A valid driver’s license is required to facilitate travel between job sites. The technician will play a vital role in maintaining property systems and ensuring customer satisfaction through reliable service.

Duties

  • Perform maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and related mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose issues using schematics, HVAC design plans, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, refrigeration testing equipment, etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components and mechanical systems to identify faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes.
  • Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC/R systems to optimize system performance.
  • Operate various tools and machinery including power tools, diagnostic instruments, and hand tools for routine maintenance or emergency repairs.
  • Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and organized following company protocols.
Experience
  • Proven experience as a service technician in HVAC/R or related fields such as construction, property maintenance, or appliance repair.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience with various heating/air conditioning and mechanical systems , and equipment repair.
  • Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, and field service procedures.
  • Experience working with plumbing, electrical, and ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.
  • Ability to operate a variety of HVAC diagnostic tools effectively.
  • Prior welding or boiler maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Mechanical background within the property maintenance field a plus.
Technical Skill Set
Significant experience (8 – 10+) and familiarity with multiple commercial/industrial HVAC system types such as, but not limited to:
  • Standard DX heating and cooling packaged units, split systems, etc.
  • Geothermal systems
  • VRF systems
  • Hydronic heating, cooling, and process systems
  • Boilers
  • Gas heating systems
  • Ventilation systems
  • HVAC controls
  • Chillers, cooling towers, etc. a plus
General Skill Set
  • Strong trouble shooting skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Proven approach to assessing, diagnosing, and repairing various HVAC system needs, equipment failures, etc.
  • Driven to find and implement effective solutions for customer’s HVAC needs
  • Maintains a ‘work safe and efficient’ attitude
  • Comfortable using IT equipment (phones, tablets, computers)
  • Good driving record
