Come one, come all to the Mennonite Heritage Center on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, where we will observe the 11th Annual Harleysville Hank Groundhog Day Extravaganza starting at 6:45 a.m. Harleysville Hank, our local weather prognosticator, will announce either more weeks of winter or the start of spring. Gather at the Mennonite Heritage Center’s historic Nyce Barn for coffee, hot chocolate, fresh homemade scrapple, Harleysville Hank’s prognostication, and rousing Groundhog Carols. To mark the occasion, we’ll have stickers available featuring southeastern Pennsylvania’s groundhog prognosticator extraordinaire. You are invited to bring friends and family of all ages for this lighthearted observance of Groundhog Day. It’ll be a great way to start your day and week!Harleysville Hank Groundhog Day Extravaganza Marks 11 Years!
An enduring tradition of Pennsylvania Dutch culture and lore, the commemoration of Groundhog Day developed into a national phenomenon. In preparation for his momentous prognostication, Harleysville Hank journeys around the community. Follow his adventures on Facebook to see where he goes. The Harleysville Hank Groundhog Day Extravaganza is dedicated to the memory of Steve Diehl, the late Executive Director of the Mennonite Heritage Center who inaugurated the celebration in 2015 in partnership with the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The Mennonite Heritage Center is located at 565 Yoder Road, Harleysville Pa. Programming at the Mennonite Heritage Center shares Anabaptist-Mennonite stories in order to educate, inspire, and witness to the church and community. To learn more about our work, visit mhep.org.
